Toddler’s tooth coming in wonky

Seasidesusy · 26/12/2023 12:48

Hi,
DS is 23 months and cutting several teeth at the moment. One of his top lateral incisors didn’t come through when the others did and has been causing some discomfort for a while. It now looks as though it’s coming in at an angle and I’m worried it’s pushing against the others. I’ve hopefully attached a photo so you can see what I mean. Does anyone have any experience of teeth coming in like this?

Ask your dentist.

Go to the dentist. They are meant to go every 6 months at this age

One of my kids 2 bottom teeth came through on an angle but straightened up very quickly. I wouldn’t worry anyway, it’s only milk teeth but check with your dentist next time you go.

Teeth move around a lot so what looks like a wonky tooth at an angle isn’t necessarily once it’s fully through and had time to settle.

If you can get an appointment! My friend has had to go private to get her toddler to a dentist.

Yes we have a dentist appointment in Feb (the earliest I could get) but this tooth has just shown itself. I can try to get an earlier appointment but seems unlikely.
It is good to hear that others have had similar. Thank you.

Ah I am fine for my toddler (I guess it's an easy appointment) but no one else can get one!

@Seasidesusy Good you have an appointment and Feb isn’t too far away. I’ve just looked at photos of my child’s teeth that I mentioned and they actually came through almost vertical. 😬 I must have worried as I found about 10 photos. Then photos a few months later and they’re fully through and straight so I definitely think your sons can turn and straighten up.

Mumaway · 27/12/2023 20:13

Very common. It will likely straighten as it and they grow. You can get reassurance at 6monthly check at dentist.
