Bug or iron medicine?

My son has started an iron supplement last Friday on advice of the doctors as he has anemia.

For the last two nights (night only) he has been vomiting and saying he feels sick.
Unsure whether it’s a side effect of the medicine as it’s been just over a week since he started it or whether there’s some kind of bug going about?

The medicine he’s on is sodium feredetate (Sytron) which is a liquid form of iron.
Anyone had any issues with this before?

Stop it for a couple of days and see what happens.

Yes iron supplements are notorious for making people very ill. Have you tried adjusting his diet instead? Some baby spinach in a smoothie would stay down much easier.

Sytron is one of the less nasty iron supplements. I was successful in taking sytron after years of not being able to stomach other iron supplements by starting with a tiny dose and building up gradually. Even a smaller dose is going to be way more effective than changing diet.

@Ilovepugs2017 I have tried my daughter in iron supplements a few times and each time she has been very sick. At first I thought it was just a bug but it was too much of a coincidence.
