High Temp with no other symptoms?

My DS5 woke very early this morning asking for a drink and guzzled an adult glass of water- when I felt him I knew he was hot and he is (39 degrees) no pain anywhere, just snuggly on couch which isn’t like him. No real appetite either.
Ive not given calpol etc as he’s not complaining of any sore areas. what is your experience of things that start with “just” a temp no symptoms? When he’s been ill before he’s always had a sore throat / tummy etc with it so just a random high temp is throwing me off! also horribly aware today is last day of Gp being open before Xmas but don’t feel he needs seen “just” for a temp? Thank you in advance (I’m on my own and just need someone else to give me a mummy point of view!)

My 2 year old was the same for a few days last week. Lasted about 3 days. Nothing actually wrong or needing treatment, just a virus that had to pass. Keep on top of calpol and offer ice lollies/drinks. Hope he is better soon.
