Weird viral thing? Any ideas?

5 year old has been ill for a week. Started with a cough, slightly snotty and temp. That went. Then a couple of episodes of vomiting, one when thought he was on the mend. Episodes of diarrhoea past couple of days. He's also had random red spots that last for a couple of days and then disappear, mainly on his face and don't look like any of the typical rashes on NHS site etc - no blistering/crusting, not itchy.

He doesn't have any allergies that we know of although does get eczema elsewhere.

He isn't that poorly in himself but obviously not right and such an odd collection of symptoms. We might try and get to GP tomorrow if no better but anyone experienced similar? Does it sound like COVID?

No idea what it is, but DD had a few days of cold, one day with nothing, then this morning started with temp and was sick once, now has diarrhoea. I suspect maybe Covid, as like you said an odd range of short lived symptoms and not seeming that poorly either. Hopefully they ll both be over it by Xmas though.

I suspect he has had more than one separate illness. We are all more prone to catching things when we are laid low with other viruses. I would just treat as any other illness. Isolate, rest, fluids and plain food.

Thanks - yes fingers crossed it will be over with although suspect other two DC may now be getting ill :(

Yes we have the same here, I'm puzzled. Just one vomit with one DC (2yo), other DC (5yo) feeling nauseous and with sulphur-smelling burps, both with weird poos. One now with a runny nose as well and clingy, the other one still full of energy and running around but still zero appetite 3 days later. Both with the odd red spot that pops up, sometimes on the chest, sometimes on the face. It's very odd! They started with it almost a week apart, so a much longer incubation period than most viruses.

I'm glad to know it's a thing for others too, it sounds like exactly the same thing. If you find out if it's covid let me know!

Following out of interest as my 5 year old is currently experiencing the same. It's the spots that have thrown me as I would have assumed it was a regular cold otherwise.

Just do a COVID test? Then you'll know and it won't be a mystery.
