Red rash on baby's face - cradle cap?

I'd be grateful for any help from mums who have experience of this.

My DD developed what looked like baby acne around 3-4 weeks old on one cheek. It evolved and started spreading all over her neck and face with some yellow-y crusts on both ears. I took her to the GP three times with varying responses (they each said differenr things - it's sebhorric dermatitis, it's baby acne/eczema, then the final one said it could be any of those!). One prescribed dermol 500 which made it so much more inflamed, it was very upsetting. They finally prescribed Fucidin H which took the rash down and was such a relief as I could see her beautiful face again. They said she probably hadn't been suffering but it looked so red and sore I can't see how she wouldn't have been.

She's now almost 8 weeks old and the rash has been popping up behind her ears on and off. She also has widesprad cradle cap on her scalp - the crusts aren't thick but are present all over her scalp. The rash is getting worse again on her neck, upper chest and on the side of her face. It looks like little red spots that then start to form red patches.

I don't know what to do - I know Fucidin H works, but the Drs told me to only use it for a week. HV said I could use a little bit if it flared up but not sure if it is safe or not. I read online that prolonged use of even a mild steroid cream in a baby could cause health issues that could be quite serious. But nothing else has worked and I don't want the rash to ravage her face again.

Has anyone else's baby had a red facial rash which the Drs linked to cradle cap? How did you manage it?

Can you put a picture of the rash on here?
If they don’t actually know what it is, and can’t give an effective treatment, I’d be pushing for a referral to paeds or dermatology.

At its worst.. now small patches of red spots on side of neck and ears (which is how it started).

Are the asthma/eczema/hay fever in her family?
It looks like eczema to me, one of mine had it from birth. It was Elena’s nature collection that worked for us. Not sure if it’s still available.

How is she fed? Have you thought about allergies? What do you use to wash her clothes/towels/bedding?
