Fly?

My DS6 is really poorly. High temp, lethargic, can't stop coughing, wont eat or take any calpol or nurofen, but is drinking water. He has had the flu spray. If it is flu, how long does it usually last? It's been 3 days and I haven't had any sleep. I'm exhausted and worried about him.

That was meant to be 'flu?' Not 'fly?'!! Title fail!!

Covid? If so I’d expect anywhere between 2-7 days.
flu tends to have more symptoms than a high
temp and cough which is why I’m wondering if it’s COVID…

calpol and nurofen would definitely make him feel less miserable and lethargic so any way you could encourage them would be worth it id say.

hope he feels better soon, it’s awful when they are poorly and you get no rest ☹️☹️x

Yes I would think covid too. Is there a reason he won’t have calpol? If he isn’t eating then be careful giving ibuprofen (if he will take it) as it’s not great on an empty stomach. Keep trying to give calpol, he might feel a lot better with a lower temperature.

Tailfeather · 12/12/2023 22:36

@MissIndecisive2023 he threw up after calpol once and now it's really hard to get him to take it. Even harder when he's poorly.

I have some tests. Will test for covid tomorrow. He's had it twice before, but very, very mild symptoms.

I totally sympathise
as my son is exactly the same ☹️all that worked
was nurofen not calpol and me (hopefully) promising him he wouldn’t be sick and taking it soooooo slowly (1ml took like 10 mins 🤦‍♀️) but once they see how much better they feel after it that helps. It also helps If
he holds the syringe himself and only puts in as much as he can manage in one swallow. And has a nice drink to quickly take the taste away after 👍

Try calpol melts

idontlikealdi · 12/12/2023 22:59

Can you try the melts?

Tailfeather · 12/12/2023 23:10

Just tested. Negative for covid at the moment. Day 3.

I have the melts, but he doesn't like them either. Groan!! But I have read that it's not bad letting them ride out a fever (as long ad it's not too high).
