Anyone have any advice for this? My daughter clears her throat constantly! I have taken her to the hospital and there's nothing wrong with her. It's not that it's annoying me as such, more that I feel a little sorry for her as it must be annoying her! I guess just ignore it and hope that she forgets/stops doing it?

My daughter used to do this too. It was only when reading your post that I realised she has stopped doing it. It is perfectly normal.

Thanks. She did stop for a while too but annoyingly the appointment took a year to come around so when we had to go to the hospital she started doing it again! I'm glad your daughter stopped doing it.

My DS (11) has done this for a few years. When he was younger he used to blink a lot. I find it's when he's worried/anxious as it's always around start of new school year in September and lasts a few weeks then stops.

Sorry I don't have any advice but my daughter also does this, she is 5 now and it started when she was 3. I assumed at first it was due to me being obsessed about coughing in public places during covid! I remember it getting worse when she went to a summer camp and then when she started preschool. In fact she got sent home a number of times during covid because of it.
Now 2 years on it is just a constant cough that is always there in the background, it does get worse when she is around people she doesn't know, which can be difficult in some situations!
I don't really know how to tackle it or do I just wait for it to go. I heard hypnosis can help, but don't fancy doing that to a 5 yr old!

How long has your daughter been doing it for?

A couple of years on and off. Hopefully they will grow out of it. I don't think I'd want to try hypnosis either as it makes it more of a "thing" then!
