10 year old child. Has had a persistent dry cough for two weeks. Been checking oxygen saturation over that time and it’s been fine. Over the past few days the cough has sounded productive, last night they coughed so much they threw up. Slept well propped up on cushions. Still coughing this morning and oxygen sats have gone down to 96/97.
They have a history of a similar illness pre covid ending in a hospital stay and antibiotics due to oxygen saturation being around 90.
is there anything else you would do right now to try and prevent a deterioration. The weekend will be quiet and they will be at home and warm (though not ill enough to want to stay in bed). We have a nebuliser that we’ve used very effectively in the past to break up congestion in the chest. My thoughts are to get that out. Anything else?
