Chest infection then roseola?

DS 17mo had a temp of anywhere between 38.5-40c for around 2 days with a bad chest and cough, for better for a day then another high temp for 5 days, was seen by GP after first fever, and diagnosed with throat infection, prescribed awful amoxicillin. It is really difficult to get any oral medication into him even calpol so getting antibiotics into him even harder. He has been off his food for a week now which isn’t like him at all so difficult to see. Barely able to get one dose of antibiotics into him each day…
Fever broke yesterday afternoon and he’s no longer warm, but suddenly got a pin prick red rash all over his belly back and nappy area. He’s much more himself today (playing more etc and eating a bit more but not much more than a slice of toast and cereal all day) and the rash doesn’t seem to be bothering him. Dulls under a glass. He’s very clingy and just wants cuddles and tv - understandably. Letting him sleep when he wants and encouraging water over anything else.
Given his bad chest is this likely to be a heady mix of virus after infection or just roseola, or both?? I know it doesn’t matter either way but I just want my regular DS back as he’s been poorly for almost 10 days! Any advice on when his appetite might be back?
