So my 9 month old went to his nans today and was accidentally given out of date eggs by two weeks . They were stores in the fridge and cooked in the microwave to make scrambled eggs. We read online that if you put the eggs in water and they sink then they are still okay. We did this with the other eggs and they sunk. Hes been fine throughout the day.

he has thrown up tonight . However this isn’t uncommon as he sometimes coughs and then sicks up his bottle at night.

should I be worried . How long would it take to effect him .

thankyou

It won’t be the eggs. They don’t go off that quickly. I never check that dates on them! If they looked fine they’ll be fine. The sick is likely a coincidence

In the UK the best before date stamp on eggs is 28 days after the eggs were laid, I keep hens and use eggs well past 28 days. The vomit won't be because of the eggs.

You'd know if an egg was off when you cracked it open, believe me!

Thankyou everyone. He’s been sick three times now. Hopefully it’s all out of his system

Probably norovirus, has he been to any baby groups? You would have known if it was the eggs, they stink when they’re off.

Read all about norovirus, including how it's spread, what the symptoms are, when to get medical advice and how to stop it spreading.

@Tempytempy he goes to nursery. He’s managing to keep most of his milk down. Albeit a small amount he wants to drink. And then will sick it up once or twice in the day. He now has diarrhoea too. He is so off his food and milk and fluids since Saturday x
