Baby with fever again

Hi

I am just looking for some reassurance if this is normal (or if in the contrary, it is not).

My DD just turned 1yo. Since being about 6mo she has been unwell around 4-5 times. It is always a fever (38-39C) for a few days and usually a cough too.

Last time end of October after 9 days with on/off fever the gp said she had a slight red throat, prescribed antibiotics and it cleared up.

After 7-10 days she now has a fever yet again and a cough. Also constipated. Is it normal for kids this age to have fevers so often? I feel we go from one to the next and I am a bit worried now.

I must say she doesn't go to nursery yet, we have seen a couple of other babies but have been mostly at home recently.

Thank you

My daughter is exactly the same. Though she does go to nursery and I did find that she has had more illnesses since starting. Does your child often see other children/babies? Maybe that’s how they’re picking things up, and I suppose it’s now a bad time of the year too!!
My daughter gets very high temps and we often take her in to hospital (as she had heart surgery we have to be more cautious with her) a Dr there told me it’s completely normal to have 8-10 illnesses per year. But I completely empathise with you as it’s just awful when they’re unwell x

@KC1234 thanks for sharing your experience, that gives me some reassurance it is normal. We do see other children/babies sometimes and we were quite social last week so maybe that's how she got it. It was more about the frequency of it, but 8-10 times per year sounds just like what she was for the last year so not excessive I guess. It is not nice especially for them that's for sure xx
