Any idea what this rash is?

This is DD's leg. She is 11 years old. The rash came on today. It's all over her arms and legs. Any ideas what it can be? Thanks.

Have you tried an antihistamine ?
Has she been unwell ?

It looks like a scarlet fever, sand paper rash.

I’m afraid I agree- veteran scarlet fever mum here - this looks classic. However, you’d normally see it on trunk and chest first and you’d expect other symptoms
too- is it itchy? Scarlet fever rash is horribly itchy and comes with sore throat, temp etc.

Thanks everyone. Yes, it's itchy. No, she's not sick. I hadn't thought of Scarlett Fever. Not sure if she's been immunised against it?

You can’t be vaccinated against scarlet fever- it’s a follow on from strep A. If she’s not poorly in anyway and no sore throat I’d be surprised If it’s that, but it’s does look just like it.

Scarlet fever - dd currently has it. Bad, barking cough over the weekend, rash appeared on her cheeks and hands yesterday then faded from spots into red blotches. Her tongue also went strawberry with a white film over so maybe check your DDs tongue or keep an eye out? Nurse we saw said it's on the rise again. Hope whatever it is she better soon OP
