Eczema around mouth

Hi all

DD (4) has had eczema around her mouth for over a month. It looks awful, red & dry. I tried to apply E45, aveeno and sudocrem but she keeps screaming saying it stings 😭 so she wipes it straight off. We've not managed to treat it yet and the pharmacist and gp keep pushing to use over the counter, aveeno / E45 etc regardless.

Has anyone got any suggestions on what I could use on her face? I feel so bad for her as her school friends keep pointing it out and she told me it makes her very sad to have the "ouchy" on her face ☹️

TIA xx

Are you sure it’s eczema ? Have they ruled out HFM and impetigo ?
Have you tried a bit of hydrocortisone to dampen it down, before the trying the other creams ?

Daktarin or Fucidin, not sure they’re recommended for children, ask a pharmacist

I would suspect it is more than likely impetigo. If it does turn out to be eczema, Dolly & Friends Calming Cream is excellent. And it is made for children.

I would try some hydrocortisone cream, you should only use it for a few days, but you should see some improvement, try putting it on before bedtime and maybe try and put some on when she’s asleep. If this doesn’t help GP should prescribe a mild steroid cream. My 27 year old DS has had eczema since he was a baby and has had Elocon steroid cream all this time. GP doesn’t like prescribing it as it’s obviously expensive and quite a strong cream, but it really works when he has a flare up and he only needs it occasionally.
