Has anyone child been through this? How was the recovery?
how long did it take to get better? Any long lasting effects left with the children?

My daughter had this about 10 years ago. No lasting effects. From memory, she had follow up for about 4 weeks or so, urinalysis and weekly BP. I think the most persistent problem was tummy pains. I do remember how worrying it was, she was 5 at the time.

I think, having read others experiences, my daughters case was mild. The acute joint pain and rash all persisted before her diagnosis but I think within a few days of the diagnosis, she was back at school and the rash faded.

My son had this around 10 years ago. It was very scary at the time but he has had no lasting effects. The swelling lasted a few weeks on and off and some aches and pains but there weren't any flare ups of rashes. I remember he went back to school part time at first as he would get swollen ankles which hurt to walk (too long ago to remember clearly). He had urine test sticks for a while too.

weirdly enough i had this when i was 30 years old. Rash on my legs and swollen feet and hands, but that was it. The doctor called in the other doctors in the surgery and they all gathered around me as i was a specimen to behold 😂 Its a bacteria found in the blood stream and it’s usually found in children they said. All signs of it disappears within 2 weeks.

Thank you for the reassuring messages. We’ve just got back from A&E, they done blood test for renal function which came back normal. They said to just keep an eye on the swelling & joint pain, to keep up with ibuprofen. 2-4 weeks to be back to normal.

Quick question, from experience did anyone’s rash turn into blisters? I see 2 forming on child’s rash on the elbow.

No blistering as far as I can recall.

No I don't remember any blisters.

ConfessionsOfAMumDramaQueen · 07/11/2023 08:50

I had it when I was 8 years old. No memory of it, no lasting effects!

Needaholi · 09/11/2023 23:01

Also had as a child. No lasting effects.

I had it a long time ago, I don’t remember blistering but I do remember the itching. I had a bath and that’s when the itching started. I thought my cleaner had put itching powder in my bath salts. I went to bed scratching my legs particularly, and in the morning my hands and feet had swollen up so much that I couldn’t walk easily and pick up my 10 month old son from his cot. I had to get my husband to pick him up and take him downstairs. Husband was so angry ! No sympathy, anyway he’s an Ex now. Just an example of how he was.

I wouldn't be convinced that that is HSP, in my experience I don't recall ever seeing it blister 🤔
