Chicken pox?

I always thought I’d know chickenpox but here we are šŸ˜‚
1 year old, started nursery with confirmed cpox cases.
also had his mmr around 11 days ago.

he’s a snotty nose and cough and on thur & Fri had a fever. Also not eating as much.

was & grumpy and clingy on Fri and then at bathtime noticed this rash on torso so immediately thought pox. It has spread to his face, back, behind the ears and a few on thighs.

it’s now Sunday and he seems much better in himself and still not itching. Can this really be cpox then? I’ve attached some pics of the rash on Fri and again from today. Does it look like it’s maybe starting to blister?

c pox or mini measles or something else?

Doesn't look like CP
Could be a reaction to the MMR as this is about the right time for a measles reaction

German measles

Oh now I’m not sure it is a reaction. This was post bath.

If it’s cp the spots tend to look like little fluid like blisters so check where the first ones came out but could easily be mmr symptoms the rubella part can come out up till 6 weeks after vaccine. They should settle about 2/3 days after appearing. I hope he’s ok op.

Sent pics to the dr and she said chickenpox, when I mentioned it didn’t look like it she asked to see him and still thought it was a mild case of pox….

Chicken pox spots can come up more after a bath/heat so that's in keeping with what you said. My daughter came down when she had her MMR too. The first spots in her hair were the day before her vaccines but it was the day after the vaccine that they were obviously chicken pox.

I keep going back and forth! I think strong chance it could be pox, they don't look very blistered anymore though do they? Which is a bit confusing..

Superscientist · 06/11/2023 15:08

My daughters started to blister on days 3 and 4. By day 5 they had all scabbed over and she went back to nursery. She had quite a mild case and wasn't really bothered by them

@HAF1119 i keep going back and forth too! Sometimes if I look closely at the pics I think I see little blisters but I thought they would be much more obvious! The dr thought actually maybe some had already scabbed…

@Superscientist that’s good your lo also had a mild case! Hopefully stays the same for us.
