What my autistic 3yo eats in a day.

I decided to document what my daughter ate today as an autistic child with food issues. She hasn't eaten meat or veg since she weaned. She has a very select variation of beige foods she will eat and if it's not what she likes it'll go to waste and she won't eat at all.

I show this to show other parents going though similar issues that they aren't alone and I'm with you on the struggle. She has 2 other siblings who eat all the nutritious food, the meat, the vegetables and the fruit but for little miss it just dosnt work. Please be kind I'm well aware that isn't ideal. Hope this helps someone ❤️

the nuggets on the final picture are quorn nuggets and they weren't touched.

also I just want to add it might seem like some of the portions are large. That's because most of it will end up on the floor and if I give her a little she will eat very little

I wouldn’t judge you in the least, when my DD (NT) was 3 her diet was extremely limited. Most parents will have sympathy and have experienced food struggles with their kids. As long as she’s eaten something thats what matters!

My dc is 16 has Asd / adhd ..

I have no doubt people who even don’t post it will judge .. but i know my child has passed out from lack of fluids and food ..

we do what we do .. I would say mine has got worse since becoming a teenager , carrots are generally the only vegetable I can get him to eat .. I don’t even like carrots much - even less now 🫣🤣

Better than mine,
Autistic 5 year old here
Breakfast was 5 digestive biscuits

Lunch was a pack of quavers and another 5 digestive biscuits

Dinner was cheese and tomato pizza with BBQ sauce followed by a yogurt, just like every night for the last month because he refuses to eat spaghetti Bolognese anymore which was one of our only safe meal to hide veg in

This is what he eats practically every day, we sometimes go through a phase of him wanting something else, but it doesn't last long. Amazingly he is a perfect weight, blood levels all perfect and he's happy, our doctor said as long as he's eating something, don't worry about what it is

Better to eat beige than not to eat.

Really be kind to yourself. My son who is NT lived on chicken nuggets and bananas for about 18 months when he was three ! His health was fine .

That's much better than my nt 14 year old son has eaten today, he's always had issues with food.
Breakfast- 2 x chocolate brioche
Lunch - a sausage roll
Dinner - 12 pigs in blankets.
Snacks - an apple, a kit kat. Also a multi vitamin.

Honest, you're doing fine.

My 4 year old eats pretty much exactly the same, can’t even get him to take a vitamin.
