Hi everyone

DD has had this sore under her lip for weeks. I’ve taken her to the GP twice and have been prescribed 2 different creams (fusidic acid and hydrocortisone) and they just don’t seem to be making a difference. I’m cleaning the area regularly and applying the cream regularly. The doctors did say it’s in an awkward place so it’s going to take a while to heal but im just clueless as to what it actually is. Any ideas?

Impetigo??

sand27 · 21/10/2023 17:13

@Gifflon this is what I was thinking. I just don’t know what else I can do to try and get it to heal! I suppose it doesn’t help DD is still teething so dribbles a lot

Update: I took DD to the pharmacy and they’ve told me to stop applying the creams as they’re not working and stick to Vaseline as a water barrier for the next 7 days and see how we go! Fingers crossed !

If the vaseline helps a little bit not quite enough try hydromol. It's similar to vaseline but a bit thicker and for us this means it stays where we want it a bit better. We find it better than vaseline and a life saver at this time of year when she gets lots of little sores on her face due to cold viruses. You can buy it in most pharmacies and on Amazon. We got it on prescription when she was a newborn and we are still on the same tub as it goes along way. She's 3.

I would still start with the vaseline especially as you probably have it at hand but I would try the hydromol next

@Superscientist thank you so much! I’ll definitely keep it in mind if I find the Vaseline isn’t working!
