Cleaning wobbly teeth

DD age 6 has a wobbly front tooth, one of the big ones. It’s been wobbly for what seems like ages and she won’t clean it or let us clean it (we are trying to but it’s a nightmare) I honestly don’t know how it’s still hanging in there but I’m getting worried about how dirty it looks and if that’s causing damage to her gums, the surrounding teeth or the new tooth underneath. It has lots of visible plaque on it. Should we just try and take it out when she’s not expecting it, which will have a horrendous fallout and I don’t feel right about doing it, or would you just leave it be and let it fall out when it’s ready.

Just to clarify, it is a milk tooth a wobbly, one of the two big front ones. All the other teeth around it are milk teeth. She’s lost two on the bottom row already, she was like this with those teeth as well but they fell out a bit quicker than this one is so they didn’t get so dirty.
