i was just wondering if anyone can advise me, we’re supposed to have my partners little boy over this Wednesday to sleep for two weeks but unfortunately he’s caught impetigo started a cream on Saturday evening our baby has not long came out of hospital with a respiratory viral infection and was very poorly will it be ok to have him this Wednesday?

It is spread by direct and indirect contact. So as long as the two children don't touch one another, or share things such as towels, blankets, napkins, etc... you should be ok. However, if you are still uncertain just postpone. I am sure they would understand your worries.

That’s the thing they don’t understand, it was by chance someone had told us he has it mum was more than happy to still send him over this week fully knowing he had it and that our little baby just came out of hospital😪 would that still work regarding like the touching etc like if it’s door knobs, bedding, surfaces can everything just be disinfected or is there still a risk? If obviously my baby hadn’t of been poorly we’d of course have him but I’m just a little anxious since leaving the hospital

Hi
It's not infectious 48 hours after starting treatment
Hope this helps x

Hello! Is that the case? So he will be ok to come over then? I’ve never had impetigo or really heard of it until this year. How long does the cream last would we have to apply it for him?xx

Hi, link to nhs advice hopefully works! The cream should be applied usually 3/4 times a day for a week
If you have to apply it I would just get some gloves to use and wash your hands after.

It's up to you really if you feel happy with this really, if you are concerned maybe compromise and have your partners child when the creams complete? But the advice is not contagious after 48 hours of the antibiotic cream xx
