Newborn twin, echogenic kidney & cysts both kidneys

Hi everyone!

I am new here and just looking for some hopeful scenarios of the situation I am in right now.

I am the father of twin boys born 11 days ago. At the 32 week scan, twin 1 showed echogenic kidneys unilateral. I was sent to a specialist hospital who checked and confirmed echogenic kidneys but did not find a cause or any cysts etc. It also confirmed kidney function, size and urine is normal, as was the amniotic fluid. We was told to wait after birth for more investigation.

Fast forward 6 weeks, my babies born 11 days ago, went for a scan today and hopeful it was normal. However we were saddened to hear that twin 1 has small multiple cysts on both kidneys. Googling this did not help, it made our anxiety worse and fearing the worst. They said his kidney function is normal, size and urine. He is feeding well also thankfully. They also took bloods day 1 of birth and said something about creatinine, took another blood test and we're happy with the creatinine. Blood pressure after birth also OK.

Consultant told me to wait till Tuesday as she has sent to kidney doctor in specialist hospital, and blood test blood pressure to follow. Anyone else in similar situation? I would love some reassurance, they are out first born and it would kill me if anything was to happen.

Hello, how is baby doing now with the kidney cysts? I've just been told my baby has cysts on both kidneys at 34 week growth scan and can't find anyone else who's been through the same.

@August21yellowbaby , how has your little one getting on? My son is 6 months old now and was born with kidney reflux, chronic kidney disease and kidney cysts (we found out after he was born so was a complete shock to us!) I don’t know anyone going through the same thing so would be nice to compare🙂
