My 1yo boy has come up with this on his neck today. We had an awful bedtime last night, he was straining and throwing himself on the bed for over an hour and hacking away (itching) at his neck as he was getting so hot and sweaty from crying for over an hour so I’m wondering if it’s that but I’m really concerned. A nurse friend says viral but it doesn’t fade when I press on it.

he also has a small patch on his tummy.

can someone help please is this normal?

he is is normal self, eating, running round, etc.

It looks like a petchicae (sp?) rash to me, which could be caused by the scratching. If it doesn't settled I'd get it checked out

I would get him checked due to his age and to put your mind at ease, but it looks like petechiae to me from the scratching. My daughter gets it from straining/itching etc.

Looks like a heat rash but get it checked

That's definitely a petechial rash (I have many years experience with them!). I would say speak with your GP as whenever my DC had them, we were told to go to A&E for urgent blood tests (one of my DC has enlarged lymph nodes so there was always a concern of leukaemia). It's likely due to thrashing around at bed time last night, OP, but I would always reiterate the advice I was given by medics - get a non-blanching rash checked ASAP.
