CMPA? Nutramigen not worked…

Hiya,

Our DD is 3.5 months old. Since around week 3 she has suffered from sickness and a rash on her face (red, raised and looks dry and scaly). Over the past month or so her poos have been green and explosive, and she only poops every other day. She is also quite gassy and seems to be uncomfortable when trying to pass gas. She is also quite congested a lot of the time.

my husband and most of his family have cows milk allergy so we went to docs and he prescribed nutramigen. Seemed to do the trick at first but after a week or so the symptoms came back quite aggressively and she was being sick all over herself, having to change her constantly. We are now on Neocate (only 1 day in).

I just wondered if anyone had a similar experience and whether it sounds like CMPA, and if neocate worked? Thankyou

I'm sorry you didn't get a reply. How are you getting on with the neocate?
We had alfamino due to a coconut allergy she couldn't have neocate. It allowed her to thrive as I couldn't find all of her allergies through my milk. She went on it at 10 months until 2ish.

Is it nutramigen AA? One is not entirely dairy free

Thanks for replying! Neocate didn’t make a difference either so we are pretty sure she doesn’t have CMPA. We switched to kendamil and on gaviscon now to help her reflux and her tummy/poos seem better on the new milk :) so strange. She still keeps getting a little rash on her face but think it may just be general eczema

There are ingredients that overlap with the two formulas which can be why they don't help. For example coconut which isn't an uncommon allergy.

It's good that the kendramil formula is helping. I hope it continues.

It's good that the gaviscon is helping. My daughter has awful reflux too and still has her oat milk thickened with gaviscon at 3. We had to have a stool softener when she was little though as it caused constipation.

Have you been referred to a paediatrician/dietician to look for allergies? Might be something to explore. I'm not sure of the exact process just know at least 3 friends has referrals to explore allergies in their babies.
