3 year old 40 breaths per minute - concern ?

Hello,

I've just noticed my little one was breathing a little fast in her sleep. Counted 40 breaths per minute.

Have seen online it says it should be 20-30. Should I contact 111? She was fine in herself before bed.

Her temperature isn't necessarily high but a little higher than usual 37.5. (Usually sits at 36.4)

Could this be the heat? Do I take her to A&E?

She had a suspected ear infection and was in A&E last Sunday with a high temperature sickness all day and they gave her antibiotics to treat it. She stopped them yesterday morning.

Really unsure what to do.

Not unusual to breathe fast if hot - and she isn’t a fever stage yet (37.6 is low
grade
fever). I’d say likely
down to heat- If
otherwise ok I wouldn’t worry. If fever goes up I’d wake and try and cool her down and see how she is.

@wobblymum1 thanks I wasn't sure if heat could cause this or not. I have woken her given her calpol and an ice lolly and she's acting completely normal nattering away to my partner. Temp hasn't come down yet it's actually nearly at 38. Gave it 30 mins ago. 111 advised A&E if no one calls me within the hour.

Have you tried nurofen? Calpol never brings a
fever down with one of my kids, always has
to be nurofen. Good news she’s sitting up chatting and having an ice lolly. How’s her breaths per minute now?

My ds did this to us so many times! Only nurofen brings his temps down so try that and if she's chatting and OK I would be OK with it. 111 are being (rightly) cautious, we had ambulance out a few tines with quick breathing with bronchiolitis or other infections but always fine. Try a cool towel on to keep cool- not ice cold though.

@wobblymum1 @Iammetoday thank you we have given both now and it's climbed to 39 so partner has taken her in. Really worried she has been complaining on and off about her belly button hurting too really don't know what is going on. Have health anxiety so I feel sick to my stomach.
