Vaccination stress

Hi all, DD had her 8 week vaccinations this afternoon and had pretty much slept since 3pm, save for nappy changes and feeds (she’s still feeding fine and we’ve had some smiles)

However, her temp went up to 37.5 before and is now around 37.1, I know they say only 38+ is a worry so just keeping an eye on it, she’s also had the suggested 3 doses of calpol throughout the day.

Should I just keep an eye and take her temp again in a bit? Most recent calpol was at 11. She is still very hot to the touch but not as bad as earlier.

Our room is also hot (23 degrees) according to the gro egg - but is cooling now. Should I keep her in a vest or put a sleep suit on her? I don’t want her to overheat or wake up freezing!

Yes, as you can tell I’m a first time mum 😭😅

Bless her, my now 6 year old felt rotten after her first vaccinations but she was fine after the others. If she feels warm to the touch on her chest then she should be fine in just a vest as it is a warm night. I bet she's feeling a lot better by morning x

Thanks @AmyandPhilipfan its so horrible! Poor little thing, she’s had so much in her system today after only knowing breast milk 😭
Will check her temp now and she feels a lot cooler. My house can cool down lots in the early hours, but would still rather her too cool then too hot!

Temp is down to 36.6 and she’s just found her voice again during nappy change so hopefully it’s passed now! 🙏

She should be fine. The fever is a normal immune system response to the vaccine and should resolve soon.

DinnaeFashYersel · 06/09/2023 07:43

Quite normal to be out of sorts, temp, cross or extra sleepy. Should be back to normal in a day or so.

NeunundneunzigHorseBallonz · 06/09/2023 07:45

All normal. Give the poor rabbit some infant paracetamol and she should feel better soon.

you’ve done everything right!
if helpful- fever is only medically considered a mild temperature form 37.6 or
above - so you little one just a bit warmer in response to the vaccinations. 🌼

Thanks all, it’s so horrible seeing them not themselves for the first time isn’t it!

Her temp went right down to normal after last dose of calpol, popped her in a sleep suit with no vest as it cooled down in the room and she slept fine (more in her cot than she ever has done which was a blessing!) she’s still sleepy this morning so all the cuddles today 💕
