What is this rash?

My DD (13) has horrible tonsilitis. I am sick of her getting it but that's another story. She has been on amoxicillin since Thursday evening. It is getting no better but that isn't my main problem. She has come up in this horrible rash. Do you think it could be the tablets? Someone IRL suggested she may be allergic to penicillin but I have no idea. Any one have any guesses?

It is listed as a SERIOUS side effect I should have said.

I should have said I gave her antihistamines but it hasn't stopped the spread of it or cleared it up.

I'm allergic to amoxicillin and I come out in a rash. Back to the GP for different ABs I would say.

The NHS page says ring 111. You have nothing to lose by doing so, if you need an AB switch they will do that.

I called them and as she isn't with me right this minute I need to get her and call back. What a pain the arse having to change the AB's although they didn't seem to be helping anyway!

That looks like the scarlet fever rash to me - has she got a strawberry tongue?

MidnightOnceMore · 03/09/2023 21:01

You can compare it to the amoxicillin rash pics online. But get it checked - AB allergic reactions are not to be ignored.

I would want her seen tonight!

TryingToBeFirstDatesFredButNot · 03/09/2023 21:15

I would also suspect scarlet fever
