1 year old sick during the night

So 1 year old DS 2 weeks ago was sick during the night, just once. And so was our older 3yo DS just once too. No complaints of stomach ache etc. wondered if it was something they had ate but we'd ate the same stuff so maybe a bug both absolutely fine the next day. The following 2 nights after that 1yo ds fine during the day but waking up and being sick between 10:30-1am both nights, sometimes just one episode sometimes 2/3 close together. Both these times also had diarrhoea nappies once around the same time but mostly fine the next days. Had gave him only bland food on these days Incase it was a bug

Fine until last Sunday where he was sick during the night again. Then fine all week until last night where he was sick again. After the first few eps we saw the doc who said they thought it was a bug, and to see how he goes. Took him to doctors today who have said possibly acid reflux but are reluctant to prescribe him anything and said it's just a case of riding it out. Has had 2 x watery poo nappies today. Has anyone experienced this? How long did it last. Have also read about the possibility of them developing a lactose intolerance after a bug and wondered if it could be that? He's not on any cows milk to drink as always struggled digesting normal formula and cows milk so was on soya but hasn't had a bottle since last week now. Please share any advice or experiences as at my wits end with cleaning constant sicky bedding and baby during the small hours of the night! Many thanks
