Conjunctivitis

Hi, so coming here really for a bit of advice. My DS woke up with conjunctivitis yesterday, and has had a bit of a cough and fever with it. I had his first birthday party planned for sunday but now I'm really not sure if I should go ahead with it?

He's honestly acting completely normal, just has gunky eyes. Would it be silly to still have the party but ensure nobody touches him and I regularly wash my hards throughout the day?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated :) xx

If you get him some drops and start today I’m sure he’d be ok by then.

I would be going to docs and getting him drops today! then hopefully by Sunday most will have cleared, but without i probs wouldn’t as it is so so contagious even when your washing your hands, you can’t stop babies touching their eyes and then toys etc!

Don’t suppose you’re still bf by any chance? I used to drop a few drops of bm in DD’s eye and it would clear it up overnight.

If he has a cough and fever it's more likely to be viral, so drops won't help.

Just clean the eyes with some cotton buds with cooled boiled water (one for each eye). I wouldn't cancel a party for conjunctivitis, but would for a high fever.
