Silent reflux help!

My 4 week old has had in hindsight, silent reflux since about a week old. We went to A&E when he was lethargic and wheezing last week and the consultant ruled out a virus but recognised the silent reflux and prescribed omeprazole. Thought it was working as his crying episode in the afternoon/evening eased up for 5 days, only for him to get drastically worse in last two and all day today.

Screaming, crying, terrible heart rending Whiney weeping sobs while looking in so much pain, discomfort after feeds and impossible to burp now as he won't go on shoulder and gets distressed on the knee. He has had hardly any waking time not crying and it's so disheartening, I'm scared it's going to mess up his development. Currently holding him up against my chest with his back to chest as holding him tummy to tummy but upright resulted in big reflexes which he shallows but cause him pain. His breath is acidic smelling.

Really down about the omeprazole not working yet, wondering if he has CMPI but doesn't have a rash. I'm dreading tomorrow in case it's another day of screaming and pain, exhausting and heart breaking to see and try to manage. We've changed to kendamil from aptamil today but does anyone hv insight into how long for omeprazole to work or if their babies had cmpi or cmpa without the rash? He's a good weight as he swallowing thr refkux and eats alot as he was bornvweighing 10lbs ,probably comfort eating in hindsight. He has started eating less however, today 240ml less than recommended for his current weight.

Just want my mostly content baby back, poor little man :(

Silent reflux is the symptom and it's usually related to a cows milk protein intolerance. You need to use a partially or fully hydrolysed formula. It then takes up to 4 weeks for all dairy to leave system.
With the omeprazole the best time to give it is around 5pm on a empty stomach so time it between feeds. It's a protein pump inhibitor so it turns off the acid pumps in the stomach and they activate at around 6pm/7pm so you want it to have travelled into the stomach to be there when these pumps activate (sounds mad but Google it)
I had great success with my son after getting a form of physical therapy similar to cranial osteopathy. Can't think of name right now!

Hi, I know it’s been a while but I’m having the same thing with my little girl who’s 8 months old and has been on omeprozol since 4 months old. I’m worried that it’s been too long ok medication and trying to wean her off the medication but the symptoms came back and now she is not comfortable and can’t sleep properly.
How did you manage? Is your little one better now? Would you pls tell em your experience how it’s ended?
