Hand Foot Mouth & Tonsillitis

I previously posted as my son had tonsillitis given antibiotics last Saturday penicillin didn't work , so was given another antibiotic Monday.

He seems to be coming out the other side but today has woken up with HFM rash on his hands and feet. I've read HFM can be mistaken for tonsillitis

I seen a GP who said it's HFM , he did say it's strange as he hasn't been anywhere this past week to actually catch it so I'm wondering if it was that all along. He also said to stop the antibiotics in case they have caused an allergic reaction.

Just wondering if anyone has had similar?.I am hoping he's not going to go back downhill again.

Yep sadly! My DS had tonsillitis and a chest infection and just as he got over that he ended up with HFM and slapped cheek syndrome. It was a rough few weeks but the dr didn't mention it being linked or one confused with the other. We just gave ibruprofen as needed and did the course of ABs. Nobody mentioned an allergy, I just figured that he was run down and prone to other infections.

I hope he feels better soon

Thank you, I think I'll keep up with the antibiotics last thing I want is Tonsillitis coming back !

His hand and feet are covered with HFM , I'm trying to figure weather this means he's over the worst of it now the rash is here or there's worse to come !
