Spots/rash MMR reaction or chicken pox or something else?

My three years old had his his preschool vaccines on Friday. He had a horrible swollen arm after the one that had since subsided, but today I noticed earlier he had a few spots on his legs that looked like insect bites and a couple around his mouth that I thought could be heat rash (this was after nursery so he was very hot and bothered!). On further inspection he's also now got lots of spots on his torso too.

I know one of the side effects of the MMR is a rash from the measles element but the NHS says this is 7-11 days post vaccine and we are only at day 5.

Has anyone had a rash like this as the MMR reaction, or does he look like it could be chicken pox? I don't want to l assume it's the vaccines and accidentally infect all his nursery with CP tomorrow if we send him in!

He otherwise seems ok in himself, no temperature. He doesn't seem to be scratching them. He's a bit grumpy and having an early night but he'll have been tearing around outside at nursery today so not unusual. Thanks all.

My dd3 had a reaction to her MMR a couple of weeks ago and also had a blistery rash on her side. GP said it was Shingles. She had to have antibiotics for the reaction to the MMR and antivirals for the Shingles. She was fine in herself too.
Your ds rash does look like chicken pox, he'll probably wake up with more in the morning if it is. Virasoothe spray was a godsend when my dc's had it.

Your poor DD shingles isn't nice at all. I guess we'll just have to see how the night goes and work it out in the morning. If it isn't CP though we will get him vaccinated as soon as we can - I've just been waiting for DD to be a bit older and then we'd get them done at the same time.
