Sodium Picosulphate with Movicol - experiences??

Hi, my son has just started on 5mg of Sodium Picosulphate. He's already on Movicol (1 sachet a day).

He's had bad constipation for 18 months now. The movicol is working to soften the poo, he's having mushier poos now. But the issue was that he was still really bloated and having random smears. The paediatrician suggested starting a stimulant to help as she said he is still holding on to poo. It's only been a few days of the sodium picosulphate, but what are people's experiences? Should I expect a poo explosion at some point?! How long did it take to work? thanks

How did you get on? I just searched pico sulphate and this came up. We're on laxido and pico sulphate....this is following a disimpactation with 8 sachets a day just before Xmas.
My kid is 3.5 and we're also trying to toilet train. Many many washes and binned pants. 😭
Also who knew the amount of poo that could come out a tiny bum/tummy!

Hello! I just got an email notification so thought I'd reply. The sodium picosulphate has been a lifesaver!! He poos normally, sometimes once or twice a day. He hasn't been upset going for a poo since he started on it, it's been brilliant for him. No more smears either. Is your child doing smears too? It will end on the picosulphate, think it took a few weeks to stop

Hi! I'm just needing to stabilise it. Think she actually had a wee tummy bug a couple of weekends ago so tapered back. The continence nurse says 2-4 sachets laxido, 2.5ml pico sulphate and 1 to 3(!) Poos per day. Yesterday at nursery was 4 or 5 poo accidents and then a MASSIVE one at home. I think I just need to get a balance. What age is your son?
