Hi all,
Just wanted to see if anyone else has had this. Baby 5 months old, formula fed. A few days ago I noticed one of the white Muslins I was putting in the wash had some neon pink stains on it…husband thought it would be jam (not sure how), thought it was odd but nothing more. Today noticed a flannel I used to wipe sick away from baby also neon pink! Looked it up and seems to be know as Red Diaper Syndrome (though never actually seen this pink stain in nappies), apparently it’s quite rare and a type of bacteria causes it.
As it’s not massively common there’s not much info on it-mostly American. Some sites say, mostly harmless, antibiotics don’t work, just leave it. With others saying defo visit a gp, can cause things like pneumonia and meningitis (!).
Baby has no symptoms of infection, no fever etc. the other day did more sick up than usual (when the flannel was stained) but now seems fine. I will probably book a gp appt on Monday, but wondered if anyone had seen similar and what had happened.
TIA!
