Lump on 5 year olds neck

my 5 year old has a lump on his neck, we first noticed it about 6 weeks ago but we aren't sure how long it was there beforehand because it's not really that noticeable, so we took him to the gp and his doctor weren't concerned she said it could possibly be a swollen lymph node or a cyst (it's a small lump that moves) and he has no other symptoms he eats well, he's full of energy there's no concerns but she sent him for blood tests to be sure, so I rang up today for his blood results as I hadn't heard anything back and the woman on the phone said from looking at the results they look fine but she needs to wait for a clinician to go over the results and then I've just received a text asking me to ring the gp in the morning as they have his test results and I'm starting to panic!
Does anyone have any positive stories just to reassure me a little bit my heart started racing as soon as they text me because I have a feeling they've found something in his bloods by the text :(

I can't help you about the text from the surgery but I can tell you that my mum found the same on me when I was a similar age. Turns out I just have large lymph nodes/glands. I'm 44 now and still have the lump - gets a bit bigger when I'm fighting an infection but it's always there!

So, if it helps reassure you any it's been nothing to worry about for me.

I wouldn’t worry OP - a GP needs to properly review them and speak to you about a plan of action if needed (may even just be to see how your DC goes in terms of future illnesses). I had to have a small op recently and had some tests done at the GP prior. The surgery rang DH but refused to talk to him (fair enough with GDPR) but said I needed to call them back immediately. I was so panicked and had to wait 2 days to speak with the doc - it was just to say all results were normal from the tests I had with them! My DH was so worried as the receptionist had made it sound like I was going to be serious news.

Hope the results are all clear for your little one! I noticed a couple of little lumps in my LO's neck a few days ago then I forgot about them, but felt them today again and they feel bigger. Will be calling GP surgery tomorrow! It's scary but try not to panic as it doesn't change the situation. Take care xx

My DS has one - it came up in response to a very nasty cold when he was 7 and never entirely went back down. He's a strapping 16-year-old now. Doctor said it was just a lymph node. My godson had one in the same place a couple of years back in his late teens. He has health anxiety and asked for a referral for an ultrasound scan - again, lymph node, nothing to worry about. Hopefully you'll have your mind put at rest when you speak to the GP.
