Spider Angioma/Spider Naevi

DD has a Spider Angioma on her cheekbone. It's been there for 4 years.

It doesn't cause any other issues, but it is extremely obvious and she's recently become very conscious of it and has asked if it can be treated.

Because it's cosmetic, we'll need to go private, and that's fine - but I don't know what specialty we need to refer to.

Can anyone tell me whether it would be dermatology or cosmetic surgery?

I don't think anyone knows why they appear, but I was told that my son's would very likely fade of its own accord in a few years. It has been getting gradually lighter and less noticeable and he's almost 12 now. It appeared when he was about 6 or 7. They are purely cosmetic with no underlying medical issue. I never even considered laser treatment.

Does your child have one that you're concerned about?

My child had a spider angioma on their face for about 6-7 years. One day it just wasn't there anymore. And it was right in the middle of the cheek, they really do clear up on their own. So don't despair.
