My baby has a squint and is long sighted . He needs to wear glasses . Anyone got any experience of squints diagnosed at a young age ? What was the outcome for your little one . My sons squint is moderately long sighted at the moment .

DS had a squint and was long sighted. Unfortunately we moved area, although not far, and despite the health visitor saying she’d refer to the eye hospital and give our new address, she didn’t. This meant it wasn’t until around 14 months that he got his glasses. He spent several months wearing a patch on his good eye, just a few hours a day, to get his eye with the squint to do the harder work so the squint could be corrected. It did work as his squint did go.
He has quite a high prescription and Asda opticians have been amazing as they offer free lens thinning, he gets the level above the thinning that the nhs voucher covers. DS is now a Teen and likes choosing new glasses, I can’t imagine him without them tbh. As a toddler he had a little shelf and he’d climb into bed and take his glasses off at night and then pop them straight on when he woke up in the morning. Make friends with the optician, they get broken a lot in the early years!

DS had a bit of a squint at 7 months the Hospital told me it would correct itself and it did but they hadn't picked up on him being extremely long sighted so he didn't get his glasses until he was around 5.

How did your baby get on? Know this is an old thread. My baby is the same age and I’ve noticed the same.
