Posting because i tend to over think and worry.

DS is 2 years and 3 months. For last 4 days he's had an on/off temp. He didn't really eat for first 24 hours but perked up Thursday night and is now back to eating and drinking well. He's also playing happily a lot of the time. Sleeping quite well - rising early which isn't his usual.

Yesterday I noticed some little white bumps on his face around his ears and his fore head. See pic. Also a few on his back and arm. They seem to come and go. They aren't itching him.

He also had dried blood up his nose - like bloody bogies, yesterday and today. He's not had any nosebleed or bumped his nose / face so that's a bit weird. Could it be a sinus infection?

Should I be concerned or just continue to watch and wait? Anyone know what it could be?

That's what they are like. Almost like a stinging nettle rash.

I would book a routine appointment with GP for the white spots, take pictures to show them, could be a mild allergy to something, perhaps a shampoo if around the ears and forehead
If temperature is now okay and no actual nosebleeds I wouldn’t worry, my kids sometimes pick their nose and end up making it bleed a bit, I just cut their nails

@Spookyseasonmum thanks.. actually over the day he's got worse again, high temp and not eating much and just got him undressed for the bath to find his arms like this (see pic)

Could be viral hives? My DD had them recently, on and off for about 5 days. They looked alarming but went down with piriton. Do see a GP if you're concerned though

warmmfeet · 22/07/2023 19:01

Thank you. I've not heard of viral hives before. I do have some children's piraton actually so maybe I'll try that now.
I guess I will call the out of hours GP service in the morning.

I hadn't heard of it either, but our GP acted like it was pretty common. I'd have thought that piriton would help with a rash like that though whether it's caused by the virus or something else. Good luck!

Boatshoes · 23/07/2023 06:25

How is your DS this morning @warmmfeet? it hopefully is viral. With regards to the bloody bogies, could your DS be picking his nose? The rash and other symptoms suggest a virus but, if at any point he became more unwell or developed a rash that did not Blanche under a clear glass, I would personally phone OoH or go to A&E. hope he feels better soon!!

warmmfeet · 23/07/2023 07:28

@Boatshoes he's still asleep at the moment but he was a wake for a while around 3am, had a drink, cuddles and more calpol. I'll wake him up soon and check him over. I did do the blanche test yesterday and it seems ok luckily. I also cut his nails nice and short in the bath! Hopefully lots of sleep is helping him recover. Poor little man. Thanks for your comment.

It does look like heat rash or hives.

Brk · 23/07/2023 07:36

I’d see the GP, this is literally their job. It doesn’t look like heat rash to me, probably some mild virus (mine always gets skin bumps with a virus) but I am not a doctor and it’s worth checking out in case is an infection, particularly with the bloody bogeys.

As he’s under age 5 you should have access to a health visitor, they can be quite good for things like this if you’re in an area where it’s hard to see a GP.

warmmfeet · 23/07/2023 07:43

Thanks yeah I'll see how he is and try and get into the out of hours today if he's still bad with it. It's not heat rash, he wasn't anywhere hot yesterday and it's been coming and going over a couple of days but suddenly got worse last night.
