DS5 Vomiting in the mornings

My DS5 has woken up 3 times in the last week and a half and vomited/ felt sick for around an hour (mostly bile) and the after a hour or so been totally back to normal. The vomiting is also accompanied by diarrhea (he has always had trouble with loose bowel movements but gained weight etc on his curve so GP said it's normal for him). I don't imagine this is a tummy bug as the first episode was 10 days ago, then 2 days ago and then this morning. The first two he'd had a bit of a late night the night before so I thought it was maybe brought on by tiredness but last night was usual bed by 8 and he had a slice of toast before bed too. He's was crying of stomach pain this morning and sickness for around an hour with some small episodes of vomiting up bile over a couple of hours and one of diarrhea as soon as he woke up - but now he's totally fine (2 hrs after waking). He has his 5 year old check with the nurse at the health centre tomorrow so I will ask her at the appointment and if it persists I will call GP too. Just wondering if anyone else's dc has had anything similar?

Perhaps keep a food diary and see if any links between what he eats or drinks last and the episodes?

Did he have reflux as a baby? Could sleeping at a more sloped angle (head above chest) help? It could be that his tummy has taken a battering after a sickness bug and just needs to heal.
