HFM

My 18 months old came out yesterday morning with what I believed were the early signs of HFM yesterday morning, some spots round his mouth, a couple of a finger and some on his feet. We go on holiday in 6 days time (abroad) but not overly worried as we've been in this position before - they never turned into blisters though and were gone within a couple of days.
Woke up this morning and he has a blister on his wrist. Fuck fuck fuck.
What is the likelihood of us being able to go? I can't really get a clear answer online, it tells me they can't fly if contagious but I can't get an answer on how long he'll be contagious for? It says normally a week (which would mean we could go) but could be longer - how would we know if he's contagious longer?
Does travel insurance cover this? We do have it but I can't see HFM listed anywhere.

I would think you’ll be ok by then, it’s most contagious for 5 days after symptoms start. It’s not like chickenpox where you need to wait for the blisters to crust over before they’re not contagious.

Enjoy your holiday!
