Is this chickenpox?

My LO has been developing some spots on her body (not many) since last Saturday. Nursery asked me to take her to GP on Tuesday to check if it was chicken pox and they said they didn’t think it was. She’s woken up this morning with a few more but she seems un well. Temp and very unsettled. The spots aren’t really changing and some of them have little black dots in the middle. Is this chicken pox or does anyone know what it might be?

Does it blanch?

Princesspeachee · 06/07/2023 09:40

Normallh they start as red spots then develop to fill with pus. My experience with chicken pox is you can literally see them appear before your eyes so this sounds too slow.
I don't like the sound of the black dots in the middle, I would take her back to the gp x

Are more coming up?
One looks like it could be but then they also look like they could be bug bites?

a few more have appeared but not many. I thought maybe bites but don’t know what they’d be from.

There's lots of things around atm biting through clothes etc.
I doubt she would get a temp with hug bites though. It could be one of those mystery viral rashes kids get where there's never a definite answer as to what it is. I would keep up with calpol but don't give nurofen incase it is chickenpox because that's supposed to make them worse.
Is she snotty with general cold symptoms too?

jerussell · 06/07/2023 09:53

She does tend to get a rash when she has a virus but not like this. She’s snotty but has been for weeks! I’ll just keep giving her calpol and cuddles and hopefully it passes.

My friends dd had a few spots like these and the dr diagnosed mild chicken pox. She didn't develop any more spots...then 2 years later had full blown chickenpox so it probably was a misdiagnosis! My DS had about 5 spots on the first day then by day 3 had hundreds, so I'd guess they're more likely to be bisect bites of some sort if you've noticed spots since Saturday.

Doesn’t look like chicken pox which starts as red pin prick spots on neck, under arms, in groin etc. It could be bug bites or an allergy. If it’s itchy she can take take piriton allergy syrup. Take care 🌻

I'd say yes, my friends little girls looked similar and she had it quite mild. We've had it full blown this week though 😭

Op Dts looked like that, first spots were on arms and back of legs, took a few days to come out.

New to this so I apologise is this is not in the correct area!
I was wandering if I add some photos can anyone tell me if they thinks it’s chicken pox. ?
