Toddler testicle higher up in groin

on my sons 6 weeks check it was noted he has a retractile left testicle which could be seen and felt in the upper scrotum and needed checking at 1 year. I took him back to gp at one year which it was still higher but as in the scrotum so GP wasn’t too concerned but referred to urologist just to confirm all is ok. Just before my son turned two he saw the urologist who noted that even though left testicle was higher it was still in scrotum and when released it stays in place and doesn’t retract and no further treatment was needed.
my son is now 3 and I noticed when showering him that the left side scrotum looked empty and the testicle is now high in the groin area. Not sure how long it’s been like that as to be honest I haven’t checked in a while.
I saw the GP who has referred for an ultrasound as she couldn’t feel it (although I gave warm bath that evening and saw it in the groin area just above the scrotum)
so worried now as I read about undecended testicles needing treatment before 1 years to reduce infertility and cancer risk.
however at 1 years old he did have testicles in the scrotum so not sure if I am panicking over nothing.
anyone been in a similar situation and can let me know there outcome.

Just wondering if you've had your urologist appt and what the outcome was?
My ds has similar issue.

Hope you've had some answers in the meantime, but I wanted to say that a friend's boy was born with two undescended testicles that were so high up he needed genetic tests to rule out DSDs. He had surgery a couple of months before he turned two and it went really well. I don't think it's a case of having missed a crucial window for intervention. Good luck with everything!

My son is 14 and we found his right testicle to have moved up. He had the surgery when he was 10. They are confident his testicle should be okay and have been looking at his testosterone and that is currently at a normal range. I hope that’ll with your worry
