Asking for all mothers instinct opions..

I have had a very off feeling about my 3.5 year old since around February this year. Pale in the face with dark circles, super grumpy , complains occaisonally of pain in his left knee, ill every other week during the winter months.

We had a routine app to see the paed so decided to raise my concerns about his paleness and she requested bloods.

These came back that he is iron deficient anemic and they told me to reduce his milk intake as this is usually what causes it. I explained he doesnt drink milk at all (hasnt since he was 1) and they told me they wouldnt do any further investigations unless it comes back low after 3 months of iron drops.

I know this should of put me at ease and i am probably being unreasonable but i cannot shake off a horrible feeling that there is something underlying causing this.

Should i follow advice and just wait until September?

Any advice welcome , thanks if you got this far x

Hi @summer795, personally, in your shoes, I would go back to the consultant / GP and request a second opinion. If you have a gut feeling, trust it.

Dietary iron deficiency anaemia is incredibly common in toddlers. It isn't usually due to excessive milk (though the calcium in milk does impede absorption of iron), but due to inadequate iron intake. How much iron rich food is there in your child's diet?
