Chicken Pox - how long does it last?

Hi All,

DS 4 year old has developed chicken pox, but we are due to travel in a week's time abroad. We saw first spots on Tuesday and we are now on day 5. Any idea how long it generally lasts and whether it is likely to resolve before we fly out?

Thank you!

You should be OK by then. Thet should start scabbing soon. You may need a GP letter (chargeable) to be let on the aircraft though to say he is no longer contagious.

Once they're scabbed they are no longer contagious. You should be just about past that stage already.

You should be fine by then, you're ok once they are scabbed over.

Thanks All!

We are already seeing a few spots scabbing, so this hopefully means we're on the recovery end.
