Recurrent scarlet fever

Disheartened as just back from GP confirming 7 year old DD has scarlet fever /
tonisllits for 2nd time in 7 weeks ☹️So another 10 days of penicillin.
last time was November so that’s 3
times in 7
months. He says If
she gets it again within 8 weeks or 4 more episodes before December she’ll be on tonsillectomy pathway.
just tired and overwhelmed as single mum as she doesn’t sleep when she has it so long nights then I work all day. also worry why she has it so often, Gp was dismissive and said some kids just get it. she eats pretty well,
takes a multivitamin every day, fresh air every day.
any one else going through this or can handhold me? X

Have you been referred to ENT? If not, push for it. My son is 5 and he has had 7 episodes since last August and mostly with antibiotics. We pushed for ENT. Records any snoring as well.

Thank you and sorry to hear you’ve had similar. Gp today said one more infection in next 8 weeks will lead to referral. He also said her tonsils are
far back so not sure if that affects anything? Poor thing has missed so much school and I’m just at the point where I expect it almost every 2
months now ☹️And evert tonsillitis she gets turns into scarlet fever so it’s 10 days of antibiotics every time ☹️

she doesn’t snore but she’s very very restless in her sleep. Always sitting up, moving around, crying out.

Yep, mine too. It’s hard but it is curable iA.
My son is on the waiting I am hoping it will improve things.
