My dd has had episodes of both eyes moving in intermittently, over last few weeks, mainly when eyes are tired, perhaps once a day. Any way dd 6 had an eye test and the optician checked back of her eyes all looked ok, tested eyes, used the drops to dilate, and told me that dd was a little long sited which may be why the eyes cross occasionally, when trying to focus, but the prescription is only slight.
so we picked glasses and collected this week, this is day two as her eyes are crossing even more.
Is this normal? Or should I taker her back? The optician seemed to think this would fix the crossing and if not she would be referred for a second opinion.
is it just her brain getting used to the new glasses making them move in more?
Please help if you can.
Thank you.

is she wearing them full time? How old is she?

keep your phone on you and take a photo when they’re crossing. Also make a note of the time and what’s she’s doing.

Glasses for long sightedness (hyperopia) should only make inwards squints better and not worse. If you still feel that it’s getting worse (or no better) mid next week, I’d go make an appointment to go back.

@underneaththeash thank you! It seems to be worse when we fist put the glasses on, she’s supposed to wear all the time, but sometime take them off and says they make her nose itchy! We notice them crossing when they go back on mainly, is this just her brain getting used to the lenses? I shall go back next week if still happening, thank you. She’s 5.

Sorry she’s just turned six.

She could be allergic to the frame if they’re making her nose itchy. You could try painting some clear varnish.

yes, it could just be her getting used to them.

Definitely go back though if she is still getting an intermittent squint though. It may be that she needs some exercises or bifocals (or a little op).
referral times are quite long at the moment.
