Hi everyone, my LO developed high fever this evening. I measured it with contactless thermometer and it showed 40.2. I gave her calpol it settled now at 38.9. No other symptoms. Shall I call 111? Or am I panicking for no reason?

If it’s coming down with calpol then I wouldn’t worry.

Keep an eye on the temp and keep fluids up- really important. My dd used to get extremely high temps and ibuprofen got them down better than Calpol and when I went to the hospital once (she had a rash as well and wouldn’t drink) they got her drinking by syringing little bits of squash into her mouth. The fluids and meds really helped. Keep her cool, meds and fluids. Ring 111 if gets worse.

Thanks for reassurance @AgeGapBbe and thank you for your advice @Karwomannghia its gone down to 38.5 now. Phew! She’s my second but it’s first time she’s poorly like that and i properly panicked!
