Chicken pox a second time?

Gemst199 · 22/06/2023 20:28

My 4yo had chicken pox around 6 months old. Yesterday he was sent home from school with suspected chicken pox. He's not got many spots, and they've not developed the classic chicken pox center yet, which makes me question whether it is chicken pox.... BUT there is chicken pox going round his class.
So is this what chicken pox looks like when they've got partial immunity, or is this something else?

That looks like chicken pox to me.

If they get it as babies, they often don’t develop immunity, my son was the same.

Both mine had it twice and one even had singles at 9 years old.

Looks like the start of the pix to me. DS has had it twice too and apparently it's much more common than were led to believe especially if they get it before age 1.

Matilda1981 · 22/06/2023 20:38

Yes, probably is chicken pox - as others have said if they get it before 1 they don’t get full immunity

Is that all he has, because I wonder if it could be shingles?

My son had it at 3yo and 9yo. Definitely possible

Mine had it twice in 2 months. Made her very ill both times.

Thanks everyone. Still no blisters, so nothing to scab over/dry out but it will be 5 days on Monday so hopefully school will take him back.
