Doctors don’t know what’s wrong with DS’s face. Can the MN hive mind help?

I wouldn’t post here if I wasn’t at a total loss. For 3 months nearly DS2 has had progressively worse acne spreading across his face. It started on one cheek, then another, now it’s all on his chin. The GP has been very helpful but ultimately we’ve tried everything he can think of and it’s only getting worse. We’re waiting for a dermatology appt but that could be months.
Things we’ve tried: fucidin cream, anti-fungal cream, course of antibiotics, cutting out dairy, soy and gluten, and treating it like eczema. We’ve also just tried leaving it. Nothing works. I have to take matters into my own hands because I can’t wait months letting it get worse and worse. If anyone has any ideas on what I could try next I’d be so very grateful.

I have had good experiences of a private consultation with a Bupa GP concerning skin problems. Recognised what it was straight away. My own GP was less than interested.

Could be an iron, zinc, or niacin deficiency - all of those can cause persistent rashes that fail to respond to steroids. If you're breastfeeding have your vitamin levels checked and/or your sons levels checked. Best of luck and hope you feel better soon!

is it just on his face?

Using washing powder for sensitive skin, then a second wash with no detergent at all, on my sons bedding, pillow and clothes helped his facial eczema.
I also had to change his pillow case every day. We used a pillow case which was pure cotton and a very high thread count.
I hope you find something which helps soon.

Maybe an allergy to diary?
Also a great portland child dermo recommended this website to me as great for helping identify rashes.
