Hello, my 16 month old has been getting constant infections ear infections, throat infections and chest infections every month since November. I kept raising my concerns with the doctor and they have finally listened. They said he needs blood test! Unfortunately they are fully booked at the hospital and he doesn't go in till the 13th June. He doesn't go to nursery so isn't mixing with a lot of children. Has anyone else been through this? What was the outcome? As I'm getting really concerned, why he keeps getting ill. The doctor did say it can sometimes be normal but sometimes it can mean something else?

Most children perceived by their parents to be abnormally infection-prone (who aren't being admitted to hospital with severe or unusual infections) have normal immune systems and don't cause as worry by primary school age (often sooner).

Every month for what 6/7 months? Could it have been the same infection but one he couldn’t shake so it lasted longer? My DS had asthma when he was little and when anything went around he would catch it and it would go straight to his chest. He got stronger as he got older as his immune system improved.

Some children are just really sickly but it’s good you are getting a blood test to show up if anything is wrong.
