He was prescribed flucloaxcillin 5 months ago and since then he is not right. He was prescribed 2 bottles for infected finger ( 10days duration, 4x a day)
he gets diarrhoea once a week and rest is solid but he still poops a lot whenever he poops but proper solid formed stools .
when he gets diarrhoea bouts, he gets cramps and poor baby will be jumping up and down !

can it be C diff?

I'd be gobsmacked if it was c diff. Incredibly rare in children. Probably just that the balance in his gut biota has got out of kilter. Give him some probiotics.

Doesn’t sound like it’s c diff if he’s having normal stools the rest of the time. As the PP said he probably has an irritated gut from them and may need probiotics. Certain food might irritate it.

My daughter had had recurrent c diff aged 2. However, she'd been an inpatient in hospital for a prolonged period, very ill, and had about 6 weeks of incredibly strong antibodies before which made her susceptible.

What you describe doesn't sound like c diff to me. It's much more extreme than once a week - it was ooze/flood through a nappy and soak the sheet bad, several times a day. It's very watery rather than just being liquid. It's also got a very distinctive smell. The first bout we were getting through 10-15 nappies a day.

C Diff has a very distinctive smell, almost a farmyard smell. One of the once smelled never forgotten. Another vote for probiotics from me, and GP if it doesn't clear up.
