Constipation ?? Or something else

My son is 4.5. He started having soiling accidents a few weeks ago now. Seen gp who said sounds like constipation and the accidents are overflow. He's been having movicol now but it doesn't seem to make any difference. Thing is, I'm not sure it is constipation? When he does poo it is always soft. He had 3 accidents and 3 massive poos yesterday (last one had me wondering where it was being stored!!) and then has had accidents again today despite his huge clear out yesterday.
Obviously movicol is a stool softener, and this hasn't ever been the issue.
Is this constipation? Could it be something else? How do I help him?

Poor thing. It's sounds like constipation to me and that the movicol is doing it's work, but if things don't improve in the next day or so I'd be taking him back to the GP.

My daughter has this and she's always got on better with Lactulose. Good luck

He is now still having accidents and when he does poo it is thin and sloppy (sorry)

Don't understand what's going on :(

Will go back to the gp I think
